Resident Resources Network is incredibly proud to announce an new initiative that is having an impact on the health and well-being of children at Cypress Commons during the summer. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our remarkable service coordinator, Judy Sengewald, and the generous support of Middletown City Schools Food Service through a grant from the State of Ohio, we are thrilled to offer free lunches to our residents!
Every day, Monday through Friday, the School District sends a mobile vehicle operated by Sodexo to Cypress Commons, delivering to children a free lunch just right outside their front doors! Children get to enjoy an array of tasty and healthy options including sandwiches, veggies, fruit, chips, and a small bottle of water. They are also encouraged to choose books to read, fostering a love for learning alongside feeding them nutritious meals.
Those over the age of 18 are able to purchase a lunch for only $4. Plus, once per week, the “Middie Meal Machine” food truck visits the community room at Cypress Commons, where Chef Jerry and Hailey serve up mouthwatering hot meals that are a hit with everyone!
Community Impact
This initiative is more than just a meal program. Not only does it nourish children’s bodies and minds, it’s a lifeline for many families. With free lunches provided for children and affordable options for adults, a family with two children can save up to $160 a month on food bills. These savings can be redirected to other essential needs, making a substantial difference in their lives.
Judy’s tireless efforts and coordination with Sodexo and Middletown City Schools are pivotal in maintaining the nutritional health of the childen and families in the Cypress Commons community. Her dedication ensures that even during the summer, children continue to have access to balanced meals that support them thriving, growing, and developing.
